CNC milling materials



  1. Aluminum: 
    High machinability and ductility, good strength to weight ratio. Aluminum alloy has good strength to weight ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivity, low density, and natural corrosion resistance.

  2. Stainless steel: 
    Stainless steel alloys have high strength, ductility, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. They can be easily welded, processed, and polished. The hardness and cost of stainless steel are higher than those of aluminum alloy.

  3. Zinc

    Zinc is a slightly brittle metal at room temperature, with a shiny gray appearance after removal of oxidation.

  4. Iron: 
    Iron is an indispensable metal in the industrial sector. Iron is alloyed with a small amount of carbon steel, which is not easily demagnetized after magnetization. It is an excellent hard magnetic material and an important industrial material. It is also used as the main raw material for artificial magnetism.

  5. Titanium: 
    Titanium is an advanced material with excellent corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, and strength weight characteristics. This unique characteristic makes it an ideal choice for addressing many engineering challenges faced by the medical, energy, chemical processing, and aerospace industries.

  6. Steels: 
    Steel is a sturdy, versatile, and durable alloy of iron and carbon. Its application range ranges from building materials and structural components to automotive and aerospace components. Steel is sturdy, durable, high tensile strength, corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant, and fire-resistant, making it easy to mold and shape.

  7. Bronze: 

    Bronze is highly resistant to seawater corrosion. The mechanical properties of this material are not as good as many other machinable metals, making it the most suitable low stress component for CNC machining production.

  8. Brass: 
    Brass has higher mechanical strength and lower friction metal properties, making CNC machining of brass very suitable for mechanical applications that require corrosion resistance, such as those encountered in the shipbuilding industry.

  9. Copper: 
    CNC milling materials, few metals have the same conductivity as copper. The high corrosion resistance of this material helps prevent rust, and its thermal conductivity is beneficial for CNC machining and forming.

How does CNC Milling work?

There are 4 steps to describe how CNC milling works.

Get a CAD model ready

To get cnc milling parts, a proper CAD(computer aided design) model is necessary.  there are some popular CAD software used by product designers or engineers for example: AutoCAD, SolidWorks.

In prototyping stage, product appearance, function, and manufacturing feasibility should be taken into consideration.  A good CAD drawing should show operating features like holes, threads, critical dimensions indicated with tolerances, etc,

Model be converted to CNC readable code

CNC machines can only understand codes. Some CAD software can transform the files into G code. In other cases, CAM(computer aided manufacturing) software is needed. Production engineer or mechanics uses CAM software to create machining tool path and other machining instructions for CAD models, and converts them into codes readable to cnc machines.

There are some CAD software with CAM functions, i.g: AutoCad, SolidWorks, Fusion360, NX/UG. Commonly used CAM sorftware, i.g. Mastercam.

Setting up the machine

Before milling machining, there are several set up steps to complete. For example, determining the most suitable milling method and machines according to part quantity, cost, complexity, placing the work piece, fixture and machining tools accurately, setting up a series of machining parameters like cutting speed/depth, feed speed, adjusting and optimizing machining procedures...

Milling Machining

When machine is set up correctly, milling process can process automatically in the cnc machines:

Rough machining: removing most of the material to shape the final structure.

Half-precision machining: improving dimensional precision and surface finish

Precision machining: Obtaining the required dimension and surface finish.

When machining completed, the part will be inspected before any post processing.

30% deposit is needed for production arrangements.

Production

Material will be purchased and examined, meanwhile our engineers get ready for cnc programming, machine set-up, fixture and cutting tools preparation, etc. In the whole production process, you will receive photos or videos for parts production.

Quality Inspection

From production to post processing, our production and quality inspection team uses micrometer, CMM, Rockwell hardness tester, etc to make sure parts compliant to drawings and requirements.

Balance Payment

70% balance payment is needed before delivery.

07

Packaging & Delivery

Parts will be safely packed and delivered as required. Tracking number will be sent to you once available.
